WWI

See the causes of the

Great War

Trench Warfare

Militarism

Militarism is the building up of a nations military, some of the reasons why this was done was because they wanted to protect there colonies and because countries around them where building theirs

Nationalism

Nationalism is having pride in your country, an example of this was Bosnia was controlled by Austria but a majority of the country still considered them selves to be Serbians

Imperialism

Imperialism is countries competing for colonies around the world, mainly European nations were doing it at this time, some examples of imperialism is Africa, Bosnia, Alsace, And Lorraine

Alliances

Alliances is the forming of partnerships with other nations, the main alliances in the great war were the central powers- Germany Austria and the Ottoman empire, and the Allies- Britain, France, and Russia, Later the U.S. will become involved

Why the U.S. entered the war

Both sides involved in world war one dug trenches to cut down on losses and to protect there positions

There were many problems with trench warfare including mud, rats, smell, body rot (trench foot), cold, maggots, lice, and other diseases

At dawn and dusk attacks came. They would lunch artillery and then go over the top into no mans land. If you went over the top you would face barbed wire machinegun fire and craters from the artillery

U.S. in WWI

Unrestricted submarine warfare was one of the reasons that the united states entered the war. Germany was attacking all ships heading for the allied nations

The sinking of the Lusitania was another reason why the united states entered the war because it killed 1198 passengers, 128 of them were American citizens

Zimmermann’s note was a note sent to Mexico but it was intercepted by the United States. It was telling Mexico to attack the U.S. and they will support them and help take back some of the land that the U.S. took from them

Treaty Of Versailles

The war was ended on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. which is now veterans day

By the end of 1917 before the U.S entered the war Germany controlled a large portion of Europe including Italy, Northern France and Belgium

General Pershing led the U.S. Troops in Europe, he brought a new style of fighting to the war. By July of 1918 the U.S. had over 1 million troops in Europe

In 1918 Russia has a revolution and drops out of the war, which would mean that Germany has to only fight a one front war and can focus all of there men to the west

To cut off the Germany supply line we attacked through the Argonne forest. It would take 47 days and 1.2 million troops but we did end up cutting off the German supplies

EXIT

One of the things that the Treaty of Versailles did was make the League Of Nations to maintain peace and stability throughout the world

The Treaty of Versailles Punished Germany. They had to take full responsibility for the war. They also had to pay 33 Billion dollars, even though they didn’t start the war.

It also made new countries of the main countries in the central powers. It made counties like Poland, Finland, Czech., and slip Austria and hungry into different countries.
