How to Make
Your Own
KnowItBook

KnowItBook is a journaling / organization tool
to help you keep track of projects, ideas, thoughts,
and notes.
You’ll be able to see immediately what their status is and which
items need your attention.
Start with a spiral-bound
notebook with 100 pages. A
divider in the center helps.
In the upper right corner of
each page number the fronts only,
1 – 100
The backs of the
pages are numbered with a “B” for “Back.”
1B, 2B, etc.
Page one and two are the
Table of Contents
Page 3 begins the
Miscellaneous Section
Draw a vertical line
¼ inch in from the left edge of the
page.
Draw another line ¼ from the first.
This gives you two squares to the left of the lines to track items.
When someone
gives you a bit of data or you have an idea, this is the place to
record it.

The boxes at the left of each line will help you track each bit of
information.
As you jot down this information, make a mark in the box immediately to the left of the line. A dot means it is not more
than a bit of information.
If something is most definitely an actionable item but is a low
priority it gets a dash.
Dots can be turned into dashes just by drawing a line through
the dot.
If it becomes a high priority item, then it can be escalated to a plus simply by drawing a vertical line
through the dash if it had previously been a dash.
And if it is a critical item, express that as a plus with a circle
around it.
When an item is completed put an “X” in the box to the
left of these symbols.
By scanning down the first column you can immediately
see items not completed.
Page 51 is the
beginning of the Topics Section.
Topics are items from theMiscellaneous Section that
you want to develop into projects.
Turn the book over….now beginning at the back: Page
100B begins the Think Section.
Yes, you’re writing from the back of the book,
and upside down.
The Think Section is for diagrams, doodling,
figuring, and a quick game of tic-tack-toe.

Still with the Knowitbook upside-down,
turn to page 50B.
This is the beginning of the Notes Section.
You will use this section to take notes in a meeting.
When you are finished, date the note and draw a line
under it.
This is also a good place to take notes during a phone conversation.
Date it and draw a line.
When page 50 B is full turn the page and start
writing on page 50 but still with the book in this
upside down position.
At some point your writing will meet writing coming from
the other direction.
That is when you make a new KnowItBook.
