The Srebarna Nature Reserve is a

freshwater lake adjacent to the

Danube. The lake is located on the

Via Pontica, a bird migration route

between Europe and Africa. Among

the most interesting bird species

are the Dalmatian pelican, great

egret, night heron, purple heron,

glossy ibis and white spoonbill.

Pirin National Park has a

limestone South Eastern Europe

landscape, with lakes, waterfalls,

caves and pine forests. The

rugged mountains, with some 70

glacial lakes scattered throughout

them, are home to hundreds of

endemic and rare species, many

of which are representative of the

Pleistocene flora of the region.

height, is the highest waterfall

in Bulgaria and the Balkans. It

is located under Botev Peak

(2,376 m) in the Balkan

Mountains and is part of the

Dzhendema Reserve of the

Białowieża Forest

Bialowieża Forest in Poland, is an ancient wood located between the border of two countries, located 70 km Belarus and 62 km Białystok (Poland). It is one of the last and largest of the immense primeval forest.

The forest contains a big number of large, ancient oaks some of which are individually named.
