EARLY LIFE Salle was born on Nov. 22, 1643 in France
He had a brother named Jean
When younger liked science and nature
He decieved his fathers legacy and joined the Jesuits and traveled as a propective colonist

• Robert got permission from Governor Daniel Courcelle to find western route to China

OBSTACLES OF THE EXPLORATION
On the way Salle and his group met a group of Seneca Indians in present day New York
In April 9, 1682, Salle named the entire Mississippi basin Louisiana and claimed it for France
He got ill when he was trying to find a western route to China
RESULTSIn 1679 he explored lake Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario.
With the permission from the king, he was able to explore the area between Florida, Mexico, and new France that’s in Canada.
