UNDERCOUNTERINSTALLATION

Install so future removal fromunderneath the countertop is possible toavoid damage to the countertop.

Check the desired lavatory location forclearance between the backsplash, faucet,lavatory, and cabinet.Cut out the template.Carefully position and trace the templateon the countertop as directed on thetemplate.Mark the faucet hole centerline on thecountertop.Drill a 1/2" pilot hole on the inside of thecut line.Cut out the countertop opening with asaber or keyhole saw.

Mark and pre-drill the wood screw holesat the locations shown on the template.Waterproof any exposed areas of wood.

This lavatory can be installed in eitherundercounter or tile-in installations.Follow the instructions that apply to yourinstallation.Observe local plumbing codes.Prior to installation, unpack the newlavatory and inspect it for damage.Return the lavatory to its protectivecarton until you are ready to install it .Inspect the waste and supply tubing, andreplace as needed.Failure to follow these precautions mayresult in a poor installation.

Undercounter lavatories should beinstalled by experienced installers.Do not use adhesives or adhesivesealants with this product.Install so future removal from underneathcountertop is possible to avoidcountertop damage.

Due to the variety of installations possiblewith this lavatory, you may need to useprocedures other than those described.Remember, because of the variety of tilesavailable, you must take carefulmeasurements prior to installation.For a replacement installation, make surethe existing cutout is the same size orsmaller than the cutout for the newlavatory.It is very important that the propermaterials are used with your lavatory.Proper selection of tile is critical for agood installation. 3/8 tile isrecommended. Because of the variancein tile thickness, your carpenter, tiler, andplumber must all be aware of the exacttype of tile you choose.After selecting the tile, provide a sampleto each contractor involved in the project.It is very inportant that the carpenter, tiler,and plumber maintain goodcommunication and discuss requirements.

Do not use adhesives or adhesive sealants.Apply a continuous bead of quality sealant to the top surface of thelavatory rim where it will contact the countertop.

The screws provided should be used on countertops with aminimum 1" (25mm) thickness. For thinner countertops, useappropriate anchors and fasteners.

Lavatories are very heavy. Get help lifting the lavatory.For wood, wood composite, and marble countertops, install thelavatory to the countertop with the clamps and screws provided.For other countertop materials, refer to the countertopmanufacturer's instructions for recommended fasteners.Position the lavatory squarely under the cutout before tighteningthe clamps. Draw the lavatory rim up against the countertop until itis snug.Immediately wipe away any excess sealant.Make the final drain and faucet connections to complete thelavatory installation. Be sure to follow the instructions packed withthe drain and faucet.Clean up with a cleaner.

Tile backer board installed over plywood is the recommendedunderlayment for installing this lavatory. Tile should be bonded to thebacker board with dry set or latex portland mortar.Acceptable underlayments include:

Tile backer board over 3/4" exterior grade plywood;3/4" exterior grade plywood.

Flakeboard;Interior grade plywood;Gypsum wallboard.

Consult with the tile contractor to determine the material to beused.

Check the desired lavatory location for clearance between thebacksplash, faucet, lavatory, and cabinet.Cut out the template.Position and trace the template on the countertop as directed onthe template.Drill a 1/2 pilot hole on the inside of the cut line.Cut out the countertop with a saber or keyhole saw.Measure and compare the thickness of the lavatory rim and tile.The lavatory rim thickness is 3/8" (10mm) +/-1/32" (1mm). Becauseof the varying thickness of the tile and lavatory, or if adhesive ormortar bed installation is used, make allowances to shim thelavatory, or route the underlayment as required.

Position the countertop upside down on foam padding to protectthe surface. Mark and drill 3/8" (10mm) holes 5/8" (16mm) deep atthe locations shown on the template.Use a setting tool and hammer to secure the anchors.

If the countertop has not been installed, install it at this time.Drill the faucet holes according to the faucet installation instructions.Install the faucet to the countertop according to the manufacturer,sinstructions.Install the drain to the lavatory according to the drainmanufacturer,s instructions.
