We return from the state confer-ence with a lot of information and excitement. Attending this year’s conference from our local organiza-tion was Darlene Davidson, Jackie Skelton, Leah Palmateer, Lisa Pilat, and I. As a local organization (LO) president, and state Bylaws Chair, I attend a Board of Directors meeting Thursday afternoon. Friday was a complete day of symposiums. The morning began with Beyond the Hashtag: finding Your Voice in the Wake of #MeToo and #TimesUp. The meeting was mod-erated by Sheila Barry-Oliver, Ed.D., Past BPW/Virginia State President, and current BPW/St. Petersburg-Pinellas President. The panelists included Lariana Forsythe, CEO, Community Action Stops Abuse (CASA), Pamela Goodman, Executive Director, Ruth’s List Florida, and Maria Martinez, former Chief Human Resource Officer, HSNi. The second symposium was You, Me and She: Why Achieving Health Equity Matters for Every-one, moderated by Alizza Punzalan-Randle. The panelist were Kimberly Brown-Williams, Healthy Start Manager, John Hopkins All Chil-dren’s Hospital, Dianne Clarke, Ph.D., CEO, Operation PAR, and Delquanda Turner, Foundation for Healthy St. Petersburg. After this full morning we at-tended the Glass Ceiling Award Luncheon. The award went to Brig-adier Carrie W. Nero. The award was Established in 1991, the Glass Ceiling Award is presented by the state president to those women who
have successfully broken through the barrier of advancement within their profession or organization, enabling them to reach the manage-ment level positions previously barred to working women. After lunch, we resumed with three more symposiums to finish out the day. The first was From Not Making Enough to Not Saving Enough: How to Narrow the Gen-der Pay and Investment Gap, moderated by Kristin Smith, Associ-ate VP, Investments Raymond James, and BPW/St. Pete. Member. The panel included Molly Auld, President, Project Prosper, Robyn Crane, Money and Business Growth Expert, Author, Kristie Kindstrom, VP, Raymond James, Wealth solu-tions Division. The next meeting, An Evolving Workplace: Blending Creativity with Convention, moderated by Tami Simms, Past BPW/FL State President, and current president of BPW/FL Education Foundation. The panelists were Kristina Alspaw, VP of Tourism, Clearwater Region-al Chamber, Maghan Mori, Co-Founder, The Doyenne Company, and Michelle Turman, CEO, Cataylist Consulting Company. The last meeting of the day was Harnessing the Power of the Fe-male Collective in City Hall St. Petersburg City Council Mem-bers: Brandi Gabbard, Dardin Rice, Gina Driscoll, and Lisa Wheelar-Bowman, moderated by Nikki Gas-tin-Capehart, Director of Urban Affairs, City of St. Petersburg. It was a great day, with a lot insightful discussion.
Saturday was a day of business. BPW/FL business and BPW/FL Education Foundation business along with nominations and voting for executive committee positions. Our own Jackie Skelton was nomi-nated and voted in as the Education Foundation Vice-President. I was again appointed BPW/FL Bylaws Chairperson. Along with BPW members from throughout the state in attendance, we had four young women from the Florida Atlantic University BPW House attending the conference. They are amazing young women. Jackie Skelton interviewed one of the girls along with Tami Simms, the foundation president. When the video is available we will share it. The BPW houses are why we Pass the Pig. This past year we collected $178, which was present at Saturday night’s banquet during the “Hogg Callin.” Consider attending next year’s conference, BPW’s 100th Anniver-sary!!!

Let us all remember this Collect as we go about our daily activities, work and family interactions!
A Collect for Club Women By Mary Stewart
Keep us, O God from pettiness; Let us be large in thought, in word, in deed.
Let us be done with fault-finding And leave off self-seeking.
May we put away all pretense And meet each other face to face –
Without self-pity and without prejudice.
May we never be hasty in judgment And always generous.
Let us take time for all things; Make us to grow calm, serene, gentle.
Teach us to put into action our better impulses, Straightforward, and unafraid.
Grant that we may realize It is the little things that create difference. That in the big things of life we are as one. And may we strive to touch and to know
The great common human heart of us all, and O, Lord God, let us not forget to be kind.
Amen

EQUAL RIGHTS
Top Ten Reasons We Need Constitutional Equality for Women
1. To provide, once and for all, what most people in the U.S. already think we have: equal rights for women and men under the law.
2. To end the hypocrisy of advocating full constitutional rights for women abroad without providing them in the Constitution of the
United States.
3. To correct the historic subjugation of women in common law, in the original U.S. Constitution, and in the Supreme Court’s rulings
that interpret the equal protection clause as not fully applicable to sex discrimination.
4. To ensure that the rights of American women and girls will not be diminished by any Congress or any political trend, but be pre-
served as the given basic rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.
5. To put the weight of the U.S. Constitution behind employment laws relating to the prevention of sex discrimination in hiring, firing,
promotions, and benefits—especially in the area of public service.
6. To guarantee in the United States and in all 50 states, full and equal rights for women and girls in public education.
7. To ensure that government programs, such as social security, Medicare, and Medicaid, do not disadvantage women.
8. To remove barriers to women in the armed services. Women who are risking their lives and well-being should also not be closed
out of promotions and jobs simply because of their sex.
9. To guarantee equality in government-funded health research for women as compared to men.
10. To guarantee equal footing for women in the legal systems of all 50 states, especially where women have historically been treated
as second-class citizens, such as in family law, insurance, education, domestic violence, and sexual assault. Taken from the BPW Florida Website, Visit www.bpwfl.org for more information.
