The mission of Zion Lutheran Church is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people through Word and Sacrament,
encouraging and supporting one another as a fellowship of believers.
We all want to belong. We all want to be known by others. We all want to know that someone out there cares about us. We have a need to be part of something to belong. It is the way God created us. The first thing Jesus did when he began his ministry was to gather a small circle of friends. Paul says, "you have received a spirit of adoption we are children of God." And that is an amazing truth! "Adoption": is a term that is often misunderstood in scriptures. The first truth is Regeneration - that is the experience of new birth. Jesus stated clearly "you must be born again". In
Baptism we become literally children of God. And second is the doctrine of "Adoption." Adoption means that you are legally a child of God. Welcome to God's family! The significance is with Regeneration you became a child of God literally. With Adoption you became a child of God legally. They both happen at the very same moment! Welcome to the family!
Questions:
1. Why do we need/want to belong? 2. What does “regeneration” mean for you? 3. What does “adoption” mean for you?
Welcome to the Family Galatians 3:23–4:7

WE ARE THE NORTH DAKOTA DISTRICT
Training pastors and church workers is not only very important, it’s
also very expensive. We are very thankful for the LWML’s
continued bi-annual grant of $35,000 toward this effort. In addition,
the ND District BOD annually designates an amount that grants a first
–year church work student approx. $3000. This amount increases
each year the student continues to train for church work. Thanks to
everyone for your generous support toward this important work.
~ Pastor Baneck, District President

Beat the ’15 Giving Challenge
A generous donor at Zion has issued us a summer challenge.
Let us beat the summer general offerings for 2015. In 2015, the general offerings from May through August were $168,000. For every dollar the congregation contributes above $168,000, the donor will
match $1 for $1.
The total matched gift will be $15,000. What does this $15,000 break down to? For 100 giving units that is $150 extra or about $40 a month
or $10 a week.
