Is Lunch provided? No, lunch is not provided. However, campers in the upper school program can buy drinks during snack and lunch for a small fee (milk and juice). Milk and juice are also provided for our lower school during lunch for campers who want it.
What time is lunch?
Lunch is at 1:00pm for both upper and lower school campers.
What happens if my child’s lunch needs to be cold?
All of our camper’s lunches are kept in the refrigerator until it is time for lunch, so everything can be kept cold throughout the morning.
Do you have a nurse?
Yes, we have a nurse on site at all times. Where do the campers swim?
Lower school campers swim at Crystal Lake, and our upper school campers, who select swimming, go to Gath Pool. Our Kindergarten classes also swim at Gath Pool.
What is your camper/staff ratio?
Usually, in our lower school we have15 campers to 3-4 adults. Upper school classes are usually no more than 10-15 campers and we have two adults.
Can campers with special needs attend S.P.A.C.E?
Yes, S.P.A.C.E. Camp is a fully inclusive camp. We have a neighborhood inclusion program through the Newton Public Schools, and we will always work with families to help accommodate campers and their individual needs.
Are the kids inside or outside most of the day?
It depends. Campers in the lower school program are inside most of the day, with the exception of recess, or a special activity that might take place outside. Some of our upper school courses take place outside on a daily basis.
Do you offer scholarships?
S.P.A.C.E. camp has a tuition assistance program where we give financial assistance to families to reduce the cost of the program.
Lower School
S.P.A.C.E lower runs very similar to the structure of a typical school day.
Each year, we have a theme at the lower school, and we try to integrate the lower school theme
into the upper school.
Throughout the camp day, all of the camp activities relate to the theme of the program.
The last week of camp, we have an open house where campers can share all of the different projects they have been creating through the
duration of the month.
This year our theme is:
And our upper school play is:
Upper School Upper school campers have a 5-block schedule throughout the week, where they travel from class to class. Campers in the full day program are able to select five courses that they would like to participate in. Campers in the half-day program select three different courses. We try our best to accommodate camper’s top choices.
S.P.A.C.E Camp allows campers to tap into a variety of areas of interest throughout the camp day!
The courses we offer are:
