If you are thinking about becoming a

dental assistant student, you will

definitely want to know what Metro

Tech’s program has to offer.

Students who go through this program

will learn how to perform patient care

as well as front office and laboratory duties

for the dental office.

It is also required that students learn about

infection control, dental material use,

charting, and chair-side functions.

A total of 115 total credit hours

are required to complete this program.

Some of the courses that are required for

Metro Tech's dental assistant program include

academic life skills,

biomedical sciences for the dental assistant,

dental radiography,

clinical practice for the dental assistant,

and foundations of dental assisting.

A few of the helpful attributes that students

who go through this program will gain

include a reading and math skill level of

at least 10th grade,

good hand-eye coordination,

dependability,

and the ability to think quickly.

Prerequisites for

Metro Tech’s dental assistant program

include a high school diploma or GED,

being at least 18 years of age,

and CPR for Health Care Providers.

Some of the certifications available include

Certified Dental Assistant

and Coronal Polishing

and Application of Topical Fluoride

by Oklahoma Board of Dentistry.
