The Egyptian broadcasting market is under direct supervision of the Ministry of Information.
Egyptian Radio and Television Union (ERTU), having exclusive right for broadcasting, it operates 9 public terrestrial and also a variety of satellite channels.
ERTU was also the first in the Arab region to operate its own satellite, the NileSat system.
