What is Innovation in Teaching and Learning?

The extent to which you are able to produce something unlike anything done or experienced or created before or to what extent you are ahead of the times in utilising advanced teaching methods.

Initial Aims

Map out a range of learning and teaching strategies used by country

Compare the advantages and disadvantages of using these strategies

Ascertain what obstacles exist Identify and exemplify instances of best

practice within given countries

Develop a set of guidelines which focus on a range of innovative techniques and strategies to improve student’s learning.

Develop models of reflection to help teachers develop their own practice

Draw on technology to bring innovative ways to promote interaction.

InteractivityInteractivity is deemed to be action and reaction with another whether it be a person, a computer or the surrounding environment which lead to meaningful learning.

Use to engage students Use to break up lecturers Use to introduce a topic Generates communication between students Group size more effective between 2-3 Can be noisy – Why it is named Buzz Group Only allocate short time frame
