INDIAN CONSTITUTION

FUNDAMENTAL DUTIES

What is the meaning of FUNDAMENTAL?

Fundamental means serving as a basis supporting existence or determining essential structure or function.

What is meant by DUTY?

An act or a course of action that is required of one by position, social custom, law or religion.

Fundamental Duties A committee was setup under the

chairmanship of Sardar sravan singh and they proposed to include fundamental duties, the proposal was accepted and a separate Part iv-A was added to the constitution , these duties are not enforceable and not punishable by law if not followed, 42 Amendment Act 1976 provided for 10 fundamental duties 1 more was added on 2002.

Article 51-A deals with fundamental duties these duties are non justice able duties.

There are totally 11 Fundamental Duties as per our Indian constitution.

1)To respect of national flag and national anthem.

2)Follow noble ideas which inspired are national struggle and freedom.

3)To uphold and protect the sovernity from the unity and integrity of India.

4)To defend the country and render national service when called upon.

5)To promote the spirit of brotherhood among all the people of India and to avoid practices derogatory to the dignity of a women.

6)To value and preserve the rich heritage of our culture.

7)To protect and improve the natural environment including forest, lakes, rivers, wild life.

8)To develop temperament, humanism.

9)To safeguard public property and to avoid violence.

10)To secure excellence in all aspects through collective activity so that the nation rises to higher levels of achievements.

11)It is a duty on the parents or guardian to provide education to his child between the age of 6-14 years.
