Message from the President
Dear colleagues and friends,
I’m very happy to share with you my experience as IFITT president in 2014.
In the following pages you will find some of the activities we have done, and goals we have reached, to make sure that IFITT can even better service the eTourism community, which encompasses good colleagues from the academia, as well as from the tourism and hospitality industry, from specialized media and consultancy organizations, and from destinations all around the world.
None of those achievements could have been reached without the commitment of a great IFITT Board. They have become possible also thanks to the very good status of IFITT as managed by the past presidents: I want to thank all of them – board members and past presidents – individually.
While in the next pages you will be able to see activities we have done in 2014, and an overview on ENTER2015, which promises to be a very memorable one, I want to devote a few lines to what we are going to do in 2015. Beside continuing in our effort to improve online and offline communication, and to improve our two major events: the ENTER Conference and IFITT Doctoral School, we’ll move along three lines of intervention.
First, we will consolidate IFITT interviews, and in general all activities aimed at innovation transfer, so to share the leading edge of eTourism research with all relevant stakeholders, as well as to share best international practices; second, we’ll enlarge the scope of local interventions, fostering IFITT footprint through a range of small- and medium-size events all around the globe; third, win-win collaborations with other major players in the field will be strengthened, so to offer new learning and networking opportunities to all our members.
It has been a very exiting year, and 2015 will be even more adventurous!
Yours in eTourism,
Lugano, December 31st, 2014

IFITT Intronetworks
In order to foster IFITT’s vision of creating the global eTourism knowledge network and community, IFITT launched in June of 2014, a dedicated online community – IFITT IntroNetworks.
It is a private online network aimed at stimulating conversations within the IFITT community, giving members the opportunity to facilitate communication & collaboration activities with other IFITT members through a centralized, professional online environment. IFITT IntroNetworks enables users to match to the people and organizations they need to meet, be that long before or after meeting in person.
The platform is open exclusively for IFITT members, however in order to further encourage collaboration and conversation within the eTourism community, ENTER2015 delegates have been invited to access it for a limited period of time, until March 2015.

EducationAs part of its Corporate Social Responsibility and its agenda to further enlarge the global eTourism community, IFITT is keen to disseminate knowledge about Tourism and Technology.
We would like to encourage students, trainers and scholars from around the world, particularly those who are digitally excluded, to access educational material and information to enhance their topical understanding.
The sharing of knowledge and of technical skills through a variety of learning experiences enables learning individuals to develop career opportunities in today’s multicultural and technology-driven working society. IFITT supports the challenge of life-long learning by providing an eTourism curriculum.
Further eTourism learning and resource materials can be found in the IFITT Digital Library: full abstracts and bibliographical data from the two major research resources in the field of eTourism, namely the ENTER Proceedings Information and Communication Technologies in Tourism, and the Journal of Information Technology & Tourism (JITT) are accessible in the Digital Library.
In addition, the IFITT eTourism Wiki is a theme-specific Wikipedia, which publishes articles in the field of eTourism, ranging from ICT applications in the various tourism and travel industries, over smart phone applications, recommender systems, data mining, and online auctions in tourism. More than 15 Wiki contributions have been delivered by eTourism scholars and will be continuously extended and updated.
The IFITT eTourism Knowledge Map is a new data base, providing up-dated bibliographical data on eTourism research and eTourism courses offered by academic and non-academic institutions worldwide. This free community service encourages knowledge exchange between eTourism researchers and lecturers, and between the academia and the industry. Currently under construction, the IFITT eTourism Knowledge Map shows bibliographical data on research and teaching activities from ETOUR (Mid-Sweden University) and webatelier.net (USI – Università della Svizzera italiana).
