FIRST COURSE OF BACHILLERATO
IT IS THE PAIN OFTEN FELT 24 TO 72 HOURS AFTER EXERCISING
DOMS IS CAUSED BY THE BREAKDOWN OF MUSCULAR FIBERS
THE TYPE OF MUSCLE CONTRACTION
SEEMS TO BE A KEY FACTOR IN THE
DEVELOPMENT OF DOMS
CONCENTRIC CONTRACTIONS
The muscle elongates while under tension due to an
opposing force being greater than the force generated by
the muscle
ECCENTRICCONTRACTIONS
A muscle successfully shortens during
contraction against a load
ISOMETRICCONTRACTIONS
The muscular force precisely matches the
load, and no movement results
WHICH CONTRACTIONS PRODUCE MOST SEVERE
DOMS?
WE DID IN CLASS TWO DIFFERENT EXERCISES, ONE OF THEM WITH MORE ECCENTRIC CONTRACTIONS THAN THE
OTHER ONE.

PERFORMED DEPTH JUMPS
GROUP A: THEY RAN FOR 20 MINUTES AT 70% OF THEIR MAXIMUN
HEART RATE
GROUP B: THEY STOOD ON CHAIR WITH THEIR TOES
CLOSE TO EDGE.
THEY STEPPED OFF A CHAIR AND LANDED
ON BOTH FEET. THEN IMMEDIATELY JUMPED
UP AS HIGH AS POSSIBLE.
