Jazz music is not covered veryoften in the current musiccurriculum. Learning providedwill help to help increaseknowledge of Duke Ellingtonand his music.
Project will help to increasestudent's knowledge of jazzmusic and more specfically themusic of Duke Ellington.Students will gain exposure intoDuke Ellington's unique use ofform, different instrumentation,tempo, and context of themusic.

Instructor will need to check onmoving the student to the libraryduring this unit. This way thelearners will be able to havesufficient work space to work.

The test is a paper-basedassessment. Music room hassufficient equipment to play thevarious music examples. Currentset up of chairs will not suffice forgiving a test.
Chairs will have to be movedaround to provide ample spacebetween students. Stereoequipment will need to be set upprior to the test in order to notwaste any time.

Instruction can be made easier bymoving the class to the library.
Instruction in the library will beable to give the studentsavailable workspace and accessto computers. This way a mobilecomputer lab will not need to beavailable.

Instructor will need to make surethat instruction and the test isnot given on days students leaveearly for other activities. Fullattendance will be needed.
