In other words, to find the proper terms for

Subject Search, you need to know what subject

headings the LCSH uses for your topic of interest.

Keywords used in Subject Search must be

in accordance to the Library of Congress Subject Headings or

LCSH in short.

and do a Title Search.

2. Click on one title which is most relevant.

3. Look through the Subjects field and take

note of the Subject terms used by OPAC.

4. Click on Search Menu

5. Click the Subject button for Subject Search

7. You will get a list of Subject Headings related

to the topic of interest

Another useful type of search is the Advanced Search

Select field to search in.

To expand your search, choose

Anywhere.

Select Boolean

2. Use Intelligent Indexing for narrowing search to broad categories

such as a particular Company, Subject, Region e.g. Singapore, or

Industry e.g. Media

2a) Use the + button to expand search for

index terms. 2b) Type a keyword. You

may use wildcard *.

2d) Select type of index to search. Click on Look up

button.

2e) Repeat steps (b) to (c) to add more keywords.

2ca) Click to select terms that

are relevant

2cb) Selected terms will be brought to this table.

3. Type your search strategy here. You MUST use boolean operators to separate your keywords. Operators

used in Factiva are:AND OR NOT * ( )

4. Select Date Range. To input your own dates, select “Enter date range”.

5. For a more accurate search, select Headline and Lead Paragraph as fields to

search free-text terms.

6. Run Search
