November, 1975 Free and Appropriate Education Individualized Education Plan Least Restrictive Environment Protecting Rights

Mandated Free and Appropriate Education (FAPE) for all children with disabilities between the ages of 6 to 21 years old

PL 94-142 required that students with disabilities have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP)

An IEP addresses individual student learning goals and modifications

PL 94-142 mandated students with disabilities be served in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE)

LRE ensures that students with disabilities will receive the opportunity to be educated along side their non-disabled peers

Students rights to FAPE in Least Restrictive Environment (LRE)

Parents are involved in educational decision making and the development of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
