What is Science?

What have you learned and what do you expect to learn?

Science is the search for knowledge or truth. It is a systematized body of knowledge based on facts and evidences through experimentation and observation. And the application of knowledge is technology

Attitudes that scientists possess are:

1. Careful judgment- not easily jumping to a conclusion. Judgment is based on facts and reliable information2. Creativity- can generate new ideas3. Critical mindedness- willing to evaluate pieces of evidences4. Curiosity- never stop learning5. Humility-

Attitudes that scientists possess are:

6. Intellectual honesty-acknowledge the source of information7. Objectivity- record actual observations and data accurately8. Patience- 9. Resourcefulness 10. Rationality- believe that things happen for a reason

Science Process Skills are the following:Inferring- process of giving logical meaning or tentative explanation to an observationFormulating Hypothesis- an educated guessControlling Variables- factors that can change in an experimentInterpreting Data- explain the meaning of somethingExperimenting- process of testing hypothesis

Inference

1. Rub your hands together. Do it slowly and then rapidly and more vigorously.

2. What is your observation?3. What inferences can you make based on your observations?

Formulating Hypothesis

1. Light the candle. Let it stand on the table.

2. Cover the lighted candle with a glass of jar.

What are the importance of science in our lives?
