God says that I am …

Adopted

“In love God predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.” Eph 1:5

Adopt:

to take by choice into a relationship especially to take voluntarily (a child of other parents) as one's own child.

1. Adoption is the Result of a.....

A. Father’s Love!

“In love God predestined us to be adopted as his sons.” V. 5

B. Father’s Choice!

God chose us!

“For He chose us in Him before the creation of the World...” Eph 1:4

C. Father’s Sacrifice!

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16

2. Adoption results in a.....

A. Secure of Salvation

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.” Eph 1:8

• The day you are adopted into the Family of God is the wonderful day of your salvation, redemption and forgiveness.

• An adoptive parent wants their child to know the past is gone.

• New family

• New home

• New name

• New life – literally, we have been

saved!

C. Spirit of Praise and Thanksgiving–

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” Eph 1:3

“You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.” Galatians 3:26-27

• Christian baptism is the official ceremony where our spiritual adoption is finalized by the judge.”

“We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.” Rom 8:22-23
