BERCHTOLD

Pioneering spirit. Today as back then.

In December 1967, Dr. Christiaan Barnard perso-nally chose for the first heart transplant surgery the CHROMOPHARE® lighting system. In the years thereaf-ter, BERCHTOLD became an OR equipping specialist with its visionary "OR of the Future" and worldwide expansion.

CHROMOPHARE® F-Generation combines innovative and revolutionary proven reflector technology with the newest LED technology for reflection and glare free light. Colour-cast shadows in the surgical field are reduced to a minimum.

Lighting adapted to modern OR techniques shortens operation times, reduces costs per procedure, and provides optimum results.

The interaction between technology and the OR team must be reliable, smooth and work without any time delays. Therefore, BERCHTOLD designed the control of its OR lights to be as simple as possible and created interfaces for other system connections

CHROMOPHARE® OR lights by BERCHTOLD offer an ideal work environment for your surgery team.

CHROMOPHARE® F-Generation

UniqueExcellent light quality thanks to the innovative hybrid light technology ensures concentrated working.

IndividualFour different colour temperatures can be chosen via Color Select as needed.

EfficientThe LEDs of the newest generation save energy and produce almost no heat.

FlexibleOR lights can be combined with each other in any way and with camera system and monitors. They can be attached to the ceiling or wall. Mobile lights are also available as an option.

SafeAn average LED lifetime of 40,000 hours provides relia-bility and investment security.

ConvenientA handle that can be sterilised and the rail that goes around the light let you position the light head with ease. Unrestricted rotation of the light head around its own axis ensures more freedom of movement.

FunctionalQuick, convenient and intuitive light settings for effi-cient workflows in the OR.

CommunicativeChromoVision® cameras offer multimedia and inter-active communication in the OR.

Unbeatable versatility

First Class Surgical Field Lighting

Unique light concept

• shadow free view due to multi facet reflector• practical depth of illumination for flexible orientati-

on of the light head• antiglare arrangement of LEDs at the edge of the

reflector• low heat generation through cool, infrared-free

light• energy saving and long-life LED modules with a life

time of about 40,000 hours• low maintenance requirement due to no movable

parts inside

The new F Generation combines proven reflector technology with the newest LED technology. In con-trast to other light technologies the light is mixed in the reflector within the light head and generates a light with outstanding spectral properties.

Profit from the advantages of innovative LED tech-nology paired with the benefits of proven reflector technology:• Homogenous light beam through the 650 light field

overlays

7

Principle of conventional LED OR lights

The F Generation principle: The reflector technology allows multiplying complete light field overlays and leads to an optimised shadow-freedom in comparison to conventional LED OR lights.

Homogenous brightness thanks to the reflector technology

Convenient in Use

Depending on the surgical situation, the surgical field can have daylight-quality illumination at the standard 4,500 K or a lower or higher colour temperature with a colour-rendering index of 96. Different tissue structure can thus clearly be distinguished and are visible in true colour. The adjustable light values provide a more flexible use of the OR light.

• Choice between four stages: 3,600, 4,000, 4,500 or 5,000 Kelvin

• The surgeon chooses the colour temperature according to individual requirements and prefe-rences

• Color Select can be adjusted to surgical circum-stances

• Color Select is available in all lights

Clearly distinguishes tissue structures through the colour temperature adjustment of 3,600-5,000 K.

Secure manipulation of endoscopy instruments using the GuideLite.

EndoLite® increases the visual comfort for endoscopyprocedures.

EndoLite® for indirect environment lightingImproves the work conditions for surgeons for endo-scopy procedures in darkened rooms. EndoLite® is integrated in the suspension and lights specifically and homogeneously the room environment. The LED light source used - alternatively in white or green - is designed for true to colour viewing.

GuideLite for light orientationThe normal light beam of the OR light can be dim-med by the push of a button to five or ten percent light intensity. The light pointed down illuminates the OR field or the instrument table, in order to safely ma-nipulate endoscopy instruments.

Modern Operating Concept

New: Interactive multicolour touch-panel for visual operation. For an excellent interaction between light and operator, the touch screen displays all func- tions clearly with integrated visual feedback.

The multicolour touch-panel can be fastened to the wall or the light suspension.

The following functions can be controlled quickly and intuitively:• Switching on and off• Light intensity• Light field size• Color Select• EndoLite®

• GuideLite

Intuitive, sterile and without limits

Synchronisation for higher comfort If several light heads are used, then these can be controlled syn-chronously and time saving from any light head.

Quick and comfortable setting via the sensor system An innovative sensor system integrated into the handle allows the OR personnel to position the light head during the operation without inadvertently adjusting the light field size. Additionally, the light can be specifically focused via the handle, with acoustic feedback.

11

New spaces to move The 360° universal joint allows unrestricted rotation of the light head around its own axis and offers greater freedom of move-ment in low rooms and unrestric-ted positioning options.

DesignThe CHROMOPHARE®- lights fulfil the demands for design and functionality. Closed forms with smooth, seamless surfaces simplify cleaning and maintaining the lights. Flow turbulences are specifically reduced according to SWKI Class 5 and DIN 1946-4. BERCHTOLD uses glass as the light emission surface. In comparison to plastic it is easier to clean and less sensitive to harsh cleaning agents. In addition, the antireflective glass minimizes potential reflections.

Highly flexible handlingThe surgical team positions the light inside and outside of the sterile surgery area using a rail that goes around the light. This allows very easy access to the OR lights from different situations. The rail design is designed for ergonomic gripping and easy cleaning.

Excellent environmentalconditionsThe OR lights are manufactured from robust and resistant materials (meeting protection type IP 53), and designed for surgical use. It thus meets the high hygiene requi-rements in the OR.
