THE HUMAN PERSON OPEN

TO TRANSCENDENC

E(FINAL

PROPOSAL)

WORLD YOUTH PARLIAMENT 2012“EDUCATION: ON

OUR WAY TOWARDS A NEW

CIVILIZATION”

Carlos Lindao

Which points reflected in the structure of Transcendence are susceptible to being educated? (How does education influence the spiritual life? How does the spiritual life influence education?)

The first Topic we addressed in our forum was “The Human Person Open To Transcendence” in relation to the structure of “Education”.

Magna Carta quote# 1.1 Before any proposals were made, we reflected on the following questions raised, How does this “development of civilization” come about? What does the development of civilization mean? Our reflections helped us conclude that the development of civilization has occurred with the help of a conscious or subconscious influence of Man’s love for God.

A second question was raised, how are we certain that the cause of true development is not some other motivator that comes from the law of human nature, for example, C.S. Lewis speaks of a law of human nature. He says that we have a blue print (law of what’s wrong and right). How can we be certain that this is not the true cause of development rather than it being God?

To answer these questions, we get to the point that the desire for the right and the good comes from one source, the spirit, which in turn comes from God’s divine constitutive presence in us, according to Rielo’s anthropological model of the Human person. How is “Man’s love of God” a motivator of a developed civilization? How do we know that it was man’s belief in God which motivated development of civilization? The answer to this question was that the gift of Faith (No one specifically knows where it comes from, it is just a gift).

Quote referenced from Johnny - “Man must have a love and appreciation for the unknown or the unexplainable” - Kiekaguard (this relates to faith doing something that is not based on what makes “sense”{according to reason} but on a faith alone).

The development of the spiritual life both personal and communal has positive repercussions for the education of one person.- CarlosEdited 1st time: “When a person develops his/her spiritual life by acquiring a disciplined spirit to seek truth, then they are more likely to seek for the best education possible” – CarlosEdited 2nd time: “Man’s desire for (Infinite; more; the truth) causes a person to develop his/her spiritual life by acquiring a disciplined spirit to seek truth, then they are more likely to seek for the best education possible” –Carlos.

The word “disciplined” – refers to a commitment. A desire to satisfy man’s yearning, desire for the truth, the more, and the most perfect causes a person to develop his/her spiritual life by acquiring a disciplined spirit to seek truth then they are more likely to seek for the best education possible. Denying themselves and sacrificing their time to seek the truth, and avoiding worldly distractions. “We should consider the spiritual dimension of a person when educating them, considering their diverse belief systems(faith backgrounds)” – Gabby

Magna Carta # 1.2 we reflected on prepared questions orient our discussion.  Question One: Explain why the following undeniable rights safeguard the inviolable dignity of the human person: life, health, education, civil, liberties?

Peoples testimonies in defending life can give testimony to people that we are dignified by promotional work or teaching. Giving prisoners dignity with jobs.

Service and charity are important because people lose hope when they see that other don’t forget about them. These people when helped feel more dignified. Sharing what we have for the sake of my brother.

Help those who are disadvantage by educating them on preventive methods. Civil rights tie into education as well. We have to educate people on knowing that one is not perfect than another one only because of their wealth. We should educate people that their thought, feeling and understanding is not the end. To help people see their relationships in the light of the highest ideal possible. To educate young people in the light of the highest value in order to avoid saying that my dignity comes from power.

What do we observe is lacking in the structure of Transcendence?

*In the Magna Carta # 1.2 what was found to be lacking was:

British Olympic champion, Ben Ainslie

1. The answer to what constitutes life, since life is more than biological.

2. The answer to what is the meaning of life, since this life should be in the terms of the highest ideals and values,

3. The text should include promoting dignity “without condition”, and it should point out the “equality” of dignity that exists between all people..
