How to handle LPG Cylinder?

• Inspect cylinder valves grease, oil, dirt, and solvent.

• Cylinder should be placed so that valve handle at the top is easily accessible

• Only use wrenches or tools recommended by supplier. • Do not drop cylinders or strike them against each other

or against other surfaces violently.

• Cylinder should be checked before filling to ensure that they are fit to fill.

Requalification of Cylinders

• Internal Inspection – every 10 years• External inspection- every 5 years• Hydraulic test- every 20 year or whenever valve

Storage of Cylinders

• No vegetation and combustible materials for minimum distance of 15 ft (4.6 m).

• Not place cylinders on the ground where water can accumulate.

• Gas cylinders must be secured• Store cylinders in an upright position

• Storage areas shall be covered with canopies. (Non combustible Material)

• Gas cylinders may not be stored in public hallways or other unprotected areas.

• Temperatures of the storage area must not exceed 125° F/51.66° C.

• Never drag, slide or roll a cylinder; use a cylinder cart or trolley.

• Cylinders must be transported upright (with the valve up

• Always have the protective cap covering the valve when transporting the cylinder.

Caution: If the cylinder is dropped on a hard surface, it can cause an explosion.
