How to write a manifesto
Group task
You need to produce:A manifestoDesigns for your publicity packA video
You can also choose to produce:Other publicity and campaign materials,
up to a cap of £40
Make a list of all those things you believe in, select those that mean something to students (know your electorate), are achievable and relevant to your post
Select 3 off the list and highlight why they are important and what you would do about these if you got into post
Make it clear to the voters who you are – highlight interesting things about yourself that may appeal to students, show your skills, knowledge, experience.
Top tips
Make sure your poster is eye catching
Use a good, clear picture of yourself
Use a slogan – tie it into your manifesto, be consistent
Think about:
The type and size of the font that you use
The quality of graphics
The colouring of graphics – they will be used in black and white
The amount of solid black colour used

In pairs:
You have 15 minutes to gather the views of students
What are the key issues students care about?
What would they be interested in hearing about from election candidates?
On your return:
Feedback to the group and suggest a manifesto point based on your research
