How to watch recorded lectures

Why would you want to watch recorded lectures?

• Catch up on missed lectures

• Review by re-watching lectures, or study ahead by pre-watching last year’s lectures

• View lectures at home or on the go

• Save time by watching at faster playspeeds

Step 1: Log on to sensei.med.jhmi.edu

Step 2: Click on the date of the lecture

Step 3: Click ‘View’ for the lecture of interest – if you don’t see your lecture, it has not been uploaded yet

Step 4: You can watch the lecture at normal speed here, or click ‘Download’ to watch later or at faster play speeds

Step 5: Save the file to your computer, preferably to cloud storage if you want to watch later from a mobile device

Step 6: From your laptop, you can watch the video at variable play speeds with VLC media player (free, open-source, cross-platform media player - get.videolan.org)

Step 7: To change play speeds, click on ‘Tools’ and then ‘Custom Interface…’

Step 8: Move the ‘Playback speed’ Button to a position on the toolbar – then click ‘Close’

Step 9: Now you can click on the icon to adjust your play speed of the lecture

Step 10: You can also watch lectures from your mobile device by using the VLC media player app to download videos saved to your Dropbox account

Step 11: Start the video and adjust the playback speed by tapping the clock icon

Step 12: If you don’t want to download the lecture, but still want to watch from a mobile device, use Photon Flash Player

Step 13: You can’t change the speed setting, but you can stream the video from the Sensei website

Step 14: Or you can use Chrome and Osmosis (osmose-it.com) to stream videos with different play speeds

Step 16: Just tap the play speed icon to change play speeds!
