How to Treat Your New Pastor
Treat him with respect.
He is God’s gift to this church.
Trust and submit to his leadership as he
follows Christ’s.
Protect his reputation in and outside of church.
Respect his family time.
Release the pastor from unrealistic
expectations.
Be patient and understanding.
Give him the benefit of the doubt.
Support him and his decisions.
Accept change cheerfully and
hopefully.
Toss out the cookie cutter!
Let him be himself.
Pray for him daily.
Encourage him regularly.
Be openly and positively responsive.
Show his family hospitality.
Attend church regularl
y
Serve in the church faithfully and in unity.
Be part of his team.
Don’t expect him to do all the work.
Give sacrificially.
Support him adequately.
Help fulfill the mission of the
church.
Don’t take your past out on your pastor; get
over it and grow up!
Allow him to be your pastor.
Don’t hesitate to call on him for help.
Stay focused on Jesus and the mission of the
church.
