WordPress Blog with Bigcommerce
• You can have a WordPress blog with a Bigcommerce store
• However, WordPress cannot be installed onto Bigcommerce’ servers
• It is still possible to get them to function together
How it Works
• WordPress is set up on a subdomain that is hosted elsewhere (ieBluehost)
• Your store remains on Bigcommerce
• 2 Sites, 2 Servers, 2 Platforms
• 1 Integrated Experience
How it Works
Root Domain Subdomain
YourStore.com Blog.YourStore.com
Step 1: Set up Hosting
• Start by setting up hosting with a hosting company such as GoDaddyor Bluehost
• This is where WordPress will be installed and all your blog files will be stored here
• Set up your hosting on a Linux server (not IIS)
Step 2: Install WordPress
• Use your hosting company’s “single click” installation process to install WordPress
• Be sure to install it to the subdomain where your blog will reside (create the subdomain prior to starting the installation)
• Take note of your username & password
Step 3: Update DNS Settings
• Determine IP Address of the new subdomain
• Create an A Record in Bigcommerce to point the subdomain at your WordPress location
Blog Away
• Now you can take advantage of the power & flexibility of WordPress to support all your blogging & content marketing needs
• Enough reading. Get to it.
