Research firms Write a letter stating upcoming events Make it easy for them to send your organization

RESEARCHING FIRMS

Directories of firms NALP, Vault, etc. Does not have to be local

Bar association websites i.e. Asian American Bar Association, Filipino Bar

Association of Northern California, San Francisco La Raza Lawyer’s Association

Firms Diversity / Pro Bono Coordinator Ethnic / Special Interest Background Hastings Alumni Other ties to your organization

LETTER WRITING

Introduce who you are What’s your organization’s mission

List past activities Reputation on campus Goals for the upcoming semester

Explain why you need the money List upcoming events, expenses

Ask them to sponsor one or all these events Give them some incentive (optional)

MAKE IT EASY TO SEND MONEY

VERY IMPORTANT!

Include: A self-addressed stamped envelope Clear contact information

Also: Make sure the contact information you have is

the most up to date

REMEMBER TO SAY YOUR THANKS!

Send: A thank you letter A card Photos of the event

You want to establish an ongoing relationship with the firm.
