How eBay works

• A seller puts an item up for bid.• The seller sets a time frame.• You bid an amount you are willing

to pay, if you get outbid, you can bid a higher amount.• You wait until the time frame ends

and see if you have won.

Uh oh! Don’t forget to watch out for the eBay sniper.

They lay in waiting to enter a higher bid at the last second so you’ll lose your item.

It’s so easy• There are also Buy It Now options,

so you don’t have to go through the bidding process.

This shows the item, current bids, and the time limit.

Buyer Protection

• Be protected by the Shield.

Are there hazards to buying on eBay? Of course there are. Just like buying at a retail shop, you can always get burned.

But eBay has a buyer protection program where your purchase is covered if you buy something that is not as listed.

PayPal or Credit Card• If you buy or

sell on eBay all the time, then I would recommend a PayPal account.

• If not you can always just use your credit card.

Leaving Feedback

Always leave feedback after you receive an item. A negative or neutral feedback can adversely affect a seller’s ability to sell on eBay.

When leaving feedback, buyers are asked to rate the seller in each of these categories with a score of one to five stars, with five being the highest rating and one the lowest.
