Metal additive manufacturing (AM) is one of the fastest growing production industries and the technology is going from prototype manufacturing to production of real parts.

Even with the AM revolution, all metal powder-based 3D printed parts will need post processing to tailor the microstructure,

to eliminate pores, thermal stresses and anisotropic mechanical properties.

Instead of using separate furnaces a modern Hot Isostatic press (HIP) from Quintus Technologies resolves all of the above making HIP the perfect complement to the metal AM market.

The smallest model (QIH9) is housed in a single, space-saving cabinet while the other models (QIH15, QIH21, QIH32 and QIH48) are delivered on a single unit skid including equipment cabinets and an operators platform. All models have a built in crane that helps loading/unloading the HIP.

Hot Isostatic Press to Support Innovative Research at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL)

Meet our local HIP experts

Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s new HIP will be used for research in demanding applications for aerospace, nuclear, gas turbines, and other advanced-technology industries, as part of its mission to enhance the competitiveness of American manufacturing.

Come and see ORNL’s new press in action – the fastest and most versatile HIP in the United States, operating at a pressure of 2070 bar (30,000 psi) and a temperature up to 2,000°C (3,992°F).

Open House: 18 October 2016 at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Save the date in your calendars.

The model QIH-9M URQ to be installed at ORNL (Tennessee) will be equipped with Quintus’ patented Uniform Rapid Quenching (URQ®) technology, enabling increased productivity with optimal temperature control.Click the link below to receive more information in your email.
