SEPEP
Principal’s Report Netball Champions
An impressive event has just been completed here at Hopetoun P-12 College – the SEPEP netball competition has been run and won. Yes the entire competition has been run by the students during their Wednesday sports period. The students have planned, played, um-pired, kept records, reported and managed all aspects of the competition.
In this instance, winners are grinners so congratulations to Gilberts which won a closely con-tested grand final through a golden goal finish.
Congratulations, also, to the best player of the series, Seisia Horman, voted by her peers as the inaugural winner of the champion player. Congratulations, also, to Flynn Grace who was the highest goal shooter for the competition with an impressive 40 goals. Thanks go to Mr Robins and Mr Williamson for overseeing the competition.
A College First
We managed a technological first for Hopetoun P-12 yesterday with the live streaming of part of the netball grand final. Mr Robins managed to stream part of the final directly to our Face-book page. It was a trial run to see how effective streaming might be. It was also a trial to check the relevance of our Facebook policy. However, you will waste your time searching our Facebook page for the video as it has been taken down due to a few technical glitches.
College Cash
The new College SWPBS shop has certainly stimulated interest amongst the students. Most have checked the items on offer, calculated their current cash supplies and have targeted the items they wish to purchase. This is certainly an impressive way to promote and recognise the implementation and use of school values. Students must not only know the values, they must display them through their day to day actions to receive recognition. The behaviours are explicit through the values matrix displayed in every room across the College. Next time you visit the College have a look at the display in the corridor near the canteen to see the items for sale.
Education Week
Our major recognition of Education Week takes place tomorrow morning with boot camp and healthy eating. The theme Healthy Mind Healthy Body is being celebrated through some physical activity, some healthy and hearty eating and a discussion on nutrition and wellbeing by experts in the field.
School Council
The postponed May meeting will be held next Wednesday commencing at 6pm in the College library. The 2016 School Annual Report will be tabled for discussion along with a range of items for discussion including camps, bus review and upgrading of school facilities and grounds.
