Student Learning Experience System (SLES)
User Guide for Student Organizations
Introduction
The Student Learning Experience System (SLES) is a new platform released in 2017/18 that manages and
records individual student’s participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Student
Organizations are REQUIRED to update their:
the list of executive committee members; and
the *extra-curricular activities organized or arranged by the organizations during the service year
(*activities subsidized by Office of Student Affairs (SA) are regarded as co-curricular activities, and
would be inputted to the system by SA)
Upon the confirmation of the list of executive committee members via the system:
Individual student would be able to view their respective participation in the student organizations;
and
The data inputted would be used for Hall Marks Calculation Exercise 2018.
Part I – Update of the new cabinet of the executive committee members
1. Login to the Student Learning Experience System (SLES) with the society account via BUniPort or direct
link at http://sles.hkbu.edu.hk/
2. To update the list of executive committee members with a new cabinet, click
3. Input the (a) start date and end date of the service period of the new cabinet; (b) the total number of
general members of the society; and (c) the number of advisors of the society. Then click
Add Period

4. A new cabinet period of the society is created, and [Pending Verification] is shown.
Click to add the members of executive committee members.
5. Click to proceed to the next page.

6. Input the Student ID number and select the corresponding position for the student, then click
7. A member of the new cabinet is then created. Repeat steps (5 & 6) until all members of the new
cabinet are created.

Part II – Input the activities organized by the society
1. The 2017/18 cabinet are required to record ALL the extra-curricular activities that had been organized
in their service year. (While the 2018/19 could only do so after the verification of the new cabinet
information by SA). Click Activity of 2017 to proceed to the next page.
2. Click Add Extra-curricular Activity to record a past activity.
3. Select a format for the activity to proceed to the next page.
4. Fill in or select all the required information as appropriate.
5. Then click Create Activity to proceed.
6. A past activity is successfully recorded in the SLES. Repeat step 1 to 5 until all extra-curricular activities
organized by the 2017/2018 cabinet are recorded.
7. If you wish to record the attendance of a particular activity, click Attendance of the corresponding
activity.
8. You may either (a) input the figure at “No. of Attendance” and click Update OR
(b) submit a list of student number by using the downloadable template.
(a) Input attendance numbers and click “Update”; or
(b) Download the template in xls
format, then fill in the student
number. Upload the attendance
list and click submit
9. The students who attended the activity would be shown at the bottom of the page if the attendance is
updated by method 8b.
10. Click Back upon completing of attendance record. You may repeat step (7-8) for updating
attendance of other past activities.
Remarks
The data inputted will be regarded as the official report of the student organization to the University. Please
provide the data as requested and ensure the data are complete and accurate. The information provided will
be used by the University for administration, communication, statistical report, research and analysis, and
any other purposes as agreed between us. For correction of and access to the society or personal related
information collected by the SLES, request could be made by sending email to Office of Student Affairs at
