COACHING STAFF
Coach Backstrom is a graduate of Hilliard Davidson
High School, where he played football, basketball,
and baseball and is a member of Davidson's Athletic
Hall of Fame. In baseball, he was a member of teams
that won 2 league titles outright, a district runner-up,
district championship, and Regional Runner-up. He continued his
baseball career at Ohio University where he pitched and played
first base earning 3 Varsity letters. He is currently finishing up his
degree in Middle Childhood Education at The Ohio State Univer-
sity. He has coached Varsity Football for the past 4 years and a 15
year old summer baseball team. He will continue in that role this
summer.
Justin Swallie is currently in his 9th year teaching
Social Studies at Hilliard Weaver Middle School, and
is in his 9th season coaching high school baseball in
Hilliard. He spent his first 4 years with the freshman
program at Hilliard Davidson High School. He
moved over to coach at Hilliard Bradley High School for two years
and worked with the Varsity program. He is currently in his 3rd
year at Davidson working with the Varsity baseball team. He has
spent the last 2 seasons assisting legendary coach Jim Dougherty,
and begins his 1st season as head coach. He also coaches 7th
grade football at Weaver Middle School. He is a graduate of Hil-
liard Darby High School and Otterbein University. He currently
lives in Powell and has a 5 year old son named Max.

Tyler Backstrom–Varsity Asst. Coach
Dave Swallie is a 7th
grade social studies
teacher at Weaver Middle School. This is his 26th year
of teaching and coaching in Hilliard. He has spent
the last 16 years as a varsity assistant at Hilliard Darby
High School. He also coaches 7th grade football at
Weaver Middle School. Dave is a graduate of The
Ohio State University and Marygrove College. He
lives in Hilliard with his wife Julie and has two sons,
Justin and Eric. He also has a grandson Max. Dave is excited to
be part of the Davidson Wildcat Baseball program.

COACHING STAFF
Coach Bauer enters his 9th
year in the Davidson base-
ball program, and fourth as the Asst. Freshman Coach. He has
been a teacher in the business department at Davidson for 13
years and has also served as an asst. in the basketball program.
Coach Bauer earned his degree from Bowling Green
State University in 2001 and Master’s degree from
Marygrove College in 2006. He is a 1996 graduate of
Hilliard High School, where he played baseball under
Coach Dougherty and also played basketball. Brett
resides in Plain City with his wife Sarah, and two sons
Garrett (6) and Jake (4).
This is Coach
Doug Biddinger’s
22nd season as an assistant coach for the Hilliard
Davidson baseball team. He teaches AP US History,
American History Through Film, and Government in
the Social Studies Department at Davidson, and
with baseball has served as a JV assistant, freshman
assistant, freshman head coach, and for the past
13 seasons as JV head coach. He is an alumnus of Ohio State
University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Social Studies
Education and a Masters in Sports and Exercise Manage-
ment. He resides in Hilliard with wife Judy, and sons Ben and
Coach Jeremey Scally
enters his 7th year in
the Davidson baseball program, and 5th as the
Head Freshman Coach. Jeremey is a 2000 gradu-
ate of (Sandusky) Perkins High School where he
played football, wrestling and baseball. He is a 2005
graduate of The Ohio State University where he
earned his B.A. in English. In 2007 he received his
postgraduate degree from Ashland University, He has been a
teacher in the English Department for 6 years and also coaches
Varsity football at Davidson. Coach Scally and his wife Kasie, also
a teacher in Hilliard, currently reside in Dublin.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ROSTER
Coach Klie currently teaches
math at Weaver Middle
School. This is his fourth year at Weaver Middle School. Before that he was a tutor
at Davidson for one year. This is his 6th year as the 8th grade baseball coach. He
attended both Ohio University and Capital University before getting his degree.
Coach Klie is also a Hilliard Davidson graduate in the class of 2002.
Coach Miller is in his 8th year
coaching baseball in Hil-
liard. He was a Davidson graduate in 2002 and played both basketball and
baseball in high school. He graduated from Ohio University in 2006 earning a
bachelor’s degree in education and his masters in 2011 from MaryGrove College.
This is his seventh year teaching ; currently teaching World Studies and Sociology
at Davidson. He lives in Hilliard and has a wife, Erika, and 1 year old son, Gavin.

Coach Stephens
is a full-time substi-
tute teacher for Hilliard City Schools. He graduated with a B.A. in Business from
Cedarville University and a Masters in Ministry from Grace Seminary. Coach
Stephens has coached baseball at Bradley HS, Memorial MS, and now at Weaver.
He lives in the Hilliard City Schools district with his wife Sandy, who teaches at
Washington Elementary.
