High Voltage Power Supply Module

New product introduction

Problem About Supply of Transformer

• A company is reluctant to resume production of third order Rosen-type transformer.

• The company proposes an alternative transformer compatible with current production line.

• Samples of the alternative transformer, which is newly developed, arrived last month.

• The alternative transformer is expected to show better performance.

High Voltage Power Supply Module for Commodity Use

• High voltage power supply module incorporating the ceramic transformer is produced for commodity use

• The module provides a fixed high voltage of 4 kV with an output current up to 160 A at an efficiency of 70 %.

• The inductance being implemented by a air-core coil, the module can be operated in magnetic field.

• Price is a few dollars

Setup for

Measurement

Output voltage versus driving frequency for load of 20 M with supply voltages from1 V to 3.5 V by stepped at 0.5 V.

Output voltage is plotted against driving frequency for a load of 10 M and various supply voltage.

Output voltage versus driving frequency for a load of 4.7 M with various supply voltages

Amplitude Ratio of Ceramic Transformer

When load is 20 M, an equivalent resistance of the load viewed from the input of the CW circuit is about 200 k. So the amplitude ratio of the ceramic transformer is expected to be about 120 at the resonance frequency

In practice, the amplitude ratio is found to be more than eighty around the resonance frequency.

Efficiency. vs. VCO Frequency for Several Supply Voltages

Efficiency vs.Output H.V. for Several Supply Voltages

• The efficiency does not depend on the supply voltage

• The efficiency depends mainly on the VCO frequency.

• Dependence of the efficiency on the VCO frequency is defined by the inductance
