• Bladesofmaxillaeproducedaselongateappendagesprojectingwellbeyondthehead(Fig.2).

• Spiraculardiskwith4lobes(Fig.3),palewithshortfringesofhairs;spiraclesblack.

ThiswasoneofthreespeciesofTipulidaelarvaefoundinthe

freshwaterinvertebratesamplesduringthe2010–11CampbellIsland

BicentenialExpedition(Limoniinae,Hexatomini,Eriopterini).Aswell

astwoknownEriopterinispecies(Erioptera (Trimicra) brachyptera, E.

(T.) pilipes,Evenhuis,1989),twoLimoniinaespeciesofMolophilus

specieshavealsobeenrecordedfromtheisland(Alexander,1964).

TheconditionshownbythemaxillaeisfoundinLimnophila species

(Byers,1996).
