STRATEGIES

PRESENTATION BY: A.B MASEME

WHAT IS HEALTH?

Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

A resource for everyday life, not the objective of living. SOURCE: WHO

DETERMINATES OF HEALTH

HEALTH PROMOTION

It is a process of enabling people to have increased control over and improve their health.

LEVELS OF PREVENTION

encouraging non smoking, family planning, condom distribution and demonstrations.

o Secondary preventionPreventing the progression of the disease- encourage screening for

early detection and management.

Tertiary prevention Reducing further disability and suffering by those already ill by

means of rehabilitation, patient education, palliative care and support groups.
