Program at The University of Arizona is now one of
the largest in the country.
MODERN HEBREW Elementary HebrewStudents learn all facets of Hebrew language – comprehension, speech, reading, and writing.Intermediate Hebrew This course builds upon Elementary Modern Hebrew and develops students’ skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing.Advanced HebrewThe course is designed to refine and enhance the skills that the students acquired in the elementary and intermediate courses.BIBLICAL HEBREWStudents are introduced to the basic grammar and syntax of the Hebrew Bible. They learn to translate prose and poetic texts, as well as ancient Hebrew inscriptions.
The Hebrew Language Program at The University of Arizona is one of the largest in the country and offers courses in Modern Hebrew, Biblical Hebrew and Classical Aramaic. Our students learn not only Hebrew, but the rich, cultural heritage that accompanies the language.
Did you know that many non-Judaic Studies majors use Modern Hebrew to fulfill their language requirements?
The Hebrew Credit by Exam program allows students to earn UA credit for Hebrew they learned elsewhere.

MEET THE MODERN HEBREW FACULTY
Anat Maimon, Coordinator of the Modern Hebrew Program was recipient of the 2012-2013 College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Dean’s Award for Excellence in Lower Division Teaching. She teaches Elementary, Intermediate and Modern Hebrew.
Abigail Limmer teaches Elementary Modern Hebrew and Uri Maimon teaches Elementary and Intermediate Modern Hebrew. Combined, our top notch instructors have more than 40 years of teaching experience.
