Federal & State Mitigation Roles

FEMA Mitigation Role

• Provides guidance and technical assistance to states and local

jurisdictions to successfully apply for and manage HMA grants

Cal OES Mitigation Role

• Applicant/Recipient/Grantee

• Soliciting project proposals from eligible subapplicants

• Assisting subapplicants with developing applications

• Reviewing applications for eligibility and completeness

• Submitting applications to FEMA

• Provide sub-award to subapplicants

• Comply with HMA program requirements

• FMA is part of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)

• Program goal is to reduce losses to the NFIP

• Projects must be flood focused and benefit NFIP insured structures

• Focused on Severe Repetitive Loss (SRL) and Repetitive Loss (RL)
