What are the changes?

• Elimination of 1-4% overload permits

• Effective 1/1/13 ONLY 5% can be purchased for $250.00

• 46.2-1129 still applies for Virginia farm or forest products. 84,000lbs gross weight is now spelled out.

Also Increased

for all overweight loads.

Specific Conditions

• Gravel, sand, or crushed stone permits are only valid in counties that impose a severance tax on coal and gases as authorized by § 58.1-3712, the weight limits prescribed in subsection B of this section shall also apply to trucks hauling gravel, sand, or crushed stone no more than 50 miles from origin to destination. …

Escort requirements(on permit)

• 12’1” to 14’0” wide: One front and one rear escort required on non-interstate routes.

• 12’1” to 14’0” wide: One rear escort required on interstate routes.

• 85’1” to 100’0” long: One rear escort required on non-interstate routes.

• Law enforcement wanted this section to be boxed off under the weights.
