Welcome Remarks
Dear Colleagues
It is my great pleasure to invite you to Hands-on Program: Endoscopic & Robotic HN Surgery
Dissection Course organized by Korean Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery in
conjunction with 7th Thyroid-Head & Neck Surgery Dissection Course of Korean Society of Thyroid
Head and Neck Surgery. On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our great pleasure to invite
you to the International Congress of ORL-HNS 2017 (ICORL 2017) in conjunction with 91st Annual
Congress of Korean Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery and 2017 Spring Meeting
of Korean Association of Otorhinolaryngologists.
For the past six years, this course has played an important role to provide and establish the
endoscopic and robotic surgical technique for head and neck tumors, not only for the Korean but
also for many international participants. Based on variable studies demonstrating the surgical
completeness, safety and excellent cosmetic outcomes, endoscopic and robotic surgery has
become an essential treatment option for centers conducting head and neck surgery. I am proud
that the outstanding head and neck surgeons who have devoted themselves to these leading
studies joined this Dissection Course as faculties to help the participants. We will do our best to
instruct and guide the participants to understand and learn the surgical technique. High-quality
fresh cadavers and the excellent facilities will also satisfy the participants.
I hope to see you at the course, which will definitely enrich your career as a head and neck surgeon.
Thank you. Hoping to see you in Seoul soon

Information for application & Areas of Endoscopic &
Robotic HN Surgery Dissection Course to be covered
Currently there are 4 places available for dissectors (2 places for Endoscopic surgery / 2 places for Robotic surgery) and 10 places for non-dissectors (Observation for robotic surgery).
Dissections will be on fresh frozen cadavers.
Each two dissectors will share one cadaver (One side of neck dissected per delegate).
From the two different dissection courses, only one should be selected by applicants
before registration.
All dissectors will have the opportunity to perform head and neck operations under
professional supervision on fresh frozen cadavers.
The course is aimed at trainees of all surgical specialties with an interest in head & neck
surgery. However, dissection courses for robotic surgery will be open primarily to
trainees who have experienced sorts of Robotic HN surgery or have received Basic
and/or Advanced training course with da Vinci system while non-dissector (Observation)
places will be open to all.
All participants will have the opportunity to learn basic skills in endoscopic & robotic
head and neck surgery in this dedicated dissection course. A great opportunity to learn
the up to date technique of Endoscopic or Robotic surgery will be offered in advanced
course (Endoscopic or Robotic surgery course). Participants can practice a variety of
HN surgeries, especially TORS, endoscopic or robotic thyroidectomy, SMG excision
and neck dissection via or retroauricular approach.
Instrumentation: Depending on the surgeon's preference, Ligasure or Harmonic scalpel
dissection can be performed.
Course Registration
Participants joining the Endoscopic & Robotic HN Surgery Dissection Course
registration fee is including with ICORL 2017 registration fee. However, the Observation
for robotic surgery fee is separated.
