Drill-Down Reporting in New General Ledger Performance Effects
Historical Strategy
1. Read all data, keep it in application memory
2. Any user request for changes in the output will
be performed on the data in application memory
New Strategy
Read-only data (from HANA) necessary
for the output
Runtime Improvements
Initial response time might be drastically reduced, depending on the nature of the
selected data, e.g., from 3h to minutes
Following navigation steps will have response times in the range of seconds
When initial selection is performed in background and stored for interactive reporting,
an acceleration of one third was measured

Overhead Calculation
Overhead calculation allocates overhead to cost
objects in actual/plan data. Overhead keys serve to
calculate different overhead rates for different objects
(such as the material being manufactured). Overhead
costs are allocated to the cost objects based on the
quantity or as a percentage of the direct costs.
Runtime improvement:
• Programs will typically only
need half the time
• Programs for overhead calculation read
aggregated line-item information from SAP
HANA instead of totals tables

What We Need From You
1. In order to hook up your non-productive system to
TruCloud, we need access to your system and ports
opened to create the HANA database connection and
configure HANA acceleration to your SAP ERP
(including service users for remote connectivity)
2. You must be on SAP ECC 6.0 EhP5 or higher, with SAP
Landscape Transformation (SLT) installed.
3. We will provide your team with a checklist of SAP
NetWeaver authorizations access needed and the
activities that will be performed

• Customers will not see any difference to the
existing business processes; they will just
run faster … can process more data in the
same time

• Customers will have additional options for
reporting and analysis without having to
change existing business processes
• Includes Line Item Browsers and Virtual Info

Innovation
… without disruption … without disruption
• Facility in ERP that allows for use / leverage of SAP HANA as a secondary
database
• No changes to the ERP user interface, customizing or master data
• Existing ERP transactions and reporting will function as-is
• Accelerator capabilities can be selectively activated on a scenario level
• The system will switch back to the ERP database where SAP HANA is
unavailable. ERP functions and features will remain in-tact as today, just run
at speeds without acceleration

TruCloud - FAQ
Why TruQua’s TruCloud approach?
TruCloud is a predefined proven process which provides
an accelerated quality execution based on TruQua’s
proprietary setup documentation and load scripts
Why Amazon?
TruCloud leverages Amazon AWS, offering the best
combination of short-term commitment and hourly cost for
non-productive use of a SAP HANA system in the cloud
What about SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud (HEC)?
SAP HEC and TruCloud system setup and data loads are
basically the same; however with HEC the customer would
have to commit to minimum contract duration as well as
supply extra efforts to coordinate the HANA setup and
administration activities. The TruCloud solution cuts
through all of this setup and allows the customer to “try”
the HANA product almost as fast as HANA itself
SAP HEC is however highly recommended for all
productive use
Does SAP provide “try-end-decide”
SAP offers (fee-based) internal services to use SAP HANA
systems, they are not optimized however for the try-and-
decide HANA Finance Accelerator use case
Additional Finance Acceleration scenarios
All generally available HANA Finance Accelerators
scenarios are available. General Ledger, Cost
Management, and Profitability template have been
predefined for fast deployment. Additional setup costs may
apply for deployment solutions other than General Ledger,
Cost Management, and Profitability.
Firewalls and security
Connectivity between the ERP system and SAP HANA in
the cloud is responsibility of the customer. TruQua can
assist in and help coordinate the enablement
WAN and LAN performance impact
WAN and LAN performance do impact the efficiency of the
HANA Finance Accelerators. While typically of low impact,
TruQua can provide performance measurement services to
analyze performance issues as well as document the
overall performance gains obtained
Regional availability
TruCloud is available in key SAP regions, for availability in
your region please contact david.dixon@truqua.com

Cloud Delivery Learnings
• Quick-Start Environment – Speeds up iterative prototyping
– Prior developments reusable
• Ease of Maintenance and Scalability – Dynamically increase hardware capacity
– Ability to change operating system, database, server landscapes and SAP Basis settings on the fly
– Ability to quickly apply notes and support packages
– Ability to implement additional security protocols such as SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) and SNC (Secure Network Communications)
• Automated Backup and Restore – Developed proprietary backup and restore automation to
reduce project risks with system changes

Slide 49
• End-to-end visibility of bottlenecks
– From DB to Desktop Visibility
– Easier ranking of bottlenecks
– Easier to see bottleneck relationships
– Benchmarks comparability to on premise systems
• Automated stress testing – Bottlenecks identified and
cleared more quickly
– More time for iterations and end-to-end clock times
– HP LoadRunner setup and versioning considerations if on premise
Performance Tuning Learnings

Slide 50
• Test various software versions
simultaneously
– Leveraging HP LoadRunner
analysis on multiple instances
– Customer version was
compared with future software
versions with and without HANA
• Facts-based decision making
to support migration strategy
– Uncertainty around HANA was
eliminated and led to successful
implementation and go-live of
the solution
