WHAT IS A HAIR TRANSPLANT?
WHAT IS AN EYEBROW TRANSPLANTATION
A hair transplant is a surgery that permanently restores hair by removing
a narrow strip of hair-bearing scalp. The strip is taken from a part of your
scalp that contains dense hair growth and is then used to fill in a section
with thin or no hair.
The same cutting edge techniques used by our surgical team at ICCM
in hair transplantation surgery are used for eyebrow transplants. A fuller
appearance to re-establishing lost, over plucked or non-existent eyebrows
is now possible.

WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE?
After application of a local anaesthetic
to the donor site, the lifelong hair bearing
follicles will be individually removed and
prepared for transplantation. Once all
of these “grafts” are ready for transplant,
anaesthetic will be administered to the
recipient site, the area will be prepared
and then the grafts will be planted. They
are very skilfully transplanted at an angle
that mimics the natural, pre-hair-loss
hairline. The entire procedure can take
anywhere from five to eight hours.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER THE PROCEDURE?
After undergoing hair transplant surgery,
you can expect to remain sensitive for
the first two to five days after surgery, with
pain relief medication recommended to
suppress the pain. You will also be able to
return to your daily routines and activities
between two to five days after surgery.
Patients can expect the transplanted
hair to fall out over the span of two to
three weeks, before new hair growth
commences within a few months post
treatment. New hair growth typically
occurs after 3-4 months post surgery.

The risks associated with the hair
transplantation procedure may include
bleeding and infection, unnatural-
looking new hair growth, scarring and
inflammation of the hair follicles.
You should always weigh up the potential
risks and advantages of any surgery with
your doctor prior to going ahead with
the surgery.
The hair transplant/eyebrow transplant is
a walk in, walk out procedure. Generally,
stitches are removed after 10 days, as
scabbing lasts up to 12 days.
