Dear Parents and Guardians Welcome to the last few days of Term 3. Thank you for a wonderful term! I truly hope you have the opportunity to relax and escape the daily grind over the vacation period. I look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday, 3 October. R U Okay?
Did you know that today is ‘R U Okay’ day? The mission of this initiative is to inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with people around them and support anyone struggling with life. Perhaps today is
the day you ask someone you’re concerned about?
Instrumental Music Program – 2018 (Date Claimer)
As you are aware, the school is looking at introducing an Instrumental Music Program for students in Years 4, 5 and 6 in 2018. Following on the returned EOI forms, Cassie Muir (Instrumental teacher) will hold a parent information night on Tuesday, 10 October at 6.30pm in the Parish Hall. We will share our vision for the program and answer any queries parents may have. St Francis’ Feast Day – 4 October
I am flagging a very special day that occurs in the first week back of next term. On Wednesday, 4 October we will celebrate the Feast Day of St Francis. We will start the celebrations with a Feast Day Mass at 9 am and this will be followed by buddy activities as our students learn about the life and spirituality of our beloved St Francis of Assisi. Staffing News
From the beginning of Term 4, Cintia May, will be working at St Sebastian’s, Yeronga, as their Guidance Counsellor. This appointment is until the end of Term 4, 2017. In Cintia’s absence, we warmly welcome Anne Orrick back to GA. Anne was here relieving Cintia while she was on LSL. I know you join me in wishing Cintia all the best in her new role for Term 4.

Parent Teacher Interviews This year we made the decision to move Parent Teacher Conferences from the end of Term Two to Term 1. This decision was based around parents, teachers and students having an opportunity of setting learning goals for students to work towards throughout the year. We are now offering parents the opportunity of once again meeting with their child’s class teacher as the year draws towards a close. These interviews are entirely optional, unlike those held in Term 1. If you don’t feel a need to again meet with your child’s teacher, there is no need to make an appointment at all. However, should you wish to have a further interview with your child’s teacher, you are invited to contact them directly to arrange a mutually convenient time. These interviews will take place in the second week of Term 4, from 9 October to 13 October. These interviews will not be booked through the online booking system PTO, but directly with your child’s teacher. 2018 Book Lists Booklists for students entering Years 1-6 will be distributed in the first week of Term 4. The online ordering system through School and Office Supplies will open on Tuesday 3 October. Ordering details will be displayed on the booklist, with delivery available to your home or workplace. Please observe the closing dates for orders. Booklists for students entering Prep in 2018 will be included in the information pack which they will receive on Orientation Day. Please note that Prep book packs will have a later due back by date than the other year levels. Dance Cart Concert The Dance Cart performance for students in Years 3-6 will take place tomorrow, commencing at 1.40pm in the shed. Parents are most welcome to join us for this celebration. Virtue The virtue of the week is Unity. Unity helps people work and live together peacefully. When we practise unity, we feel connected to
everyone and everything. Unity brings harmony, like the music made by different instruments in an orchestra. Unity comes when we value all people. The joy of one is the joy of all. The hurt of one is the hurt of all. The honour of one is the honour of all. We are practising unity, when we:
Treat all people as members of one human
family;
See the gifts in differences;
Refuse to join in when others express
prejudice;
Solve conflict through listening and finding
solutions;
Care for the earth and all living things; and
Act like a peacemaker wherever you go.
St Francis Day On Wednesday 4 October, we will celebrate the feast day of St Francis of Assisi. On this day we will start
with a whole school Mass in the Shed led by Father John at 9am. All students will receive a special treat at lunchtime. Classes will then be involved in St Francis themed activities throughout the day in their classrooms and with their buddies.
Prayer Blessings for the school holidays , Debbie Young
