Interesting Facts! The Saki monkeys belong to the genus Pithecia. The Saki has a very unusual appearance, its face is framed

with an odd 'bonnet' or 'hood' of hair. The Monk Saki often travels in groups of three or four. The Saki monkeys are usually always shy. The Bald-faced Saki (Pithecia irrorata) inhabits Western

Brazil, southeast Peru and northern Bolivia. The Bald-faced Saki (Pithecia irrorata) dwells around

western Brazil, southeast Peru and northern Bolivia. The fur is a dark agouti color with pale hands and feet. In the late 1900’s is was nearly hunted to extinction. The females have very long, shaggy, loose hair. The hair on

the male is short and stiff. The usual color of both gender are brownish/grayish. Their under parts are usually red and tan.
