The Village Halloween Parade

(Rated G)

By Annie Dietz

For parents who want to avoid the scantily clad who march in the famousGreenwich Village Halloween Parade, an alternative is to take their kids to the children’s parade earlier in the day, near Washington Square Park.

You can see professional athletes.

And mother/daughter pirate wencheschatting with Frida Kahlo.

Or miniature French sailors with Bavarianmilk maid mothers.

You can even meet Tinkerbell! (Also known as Meb Byrne, NYU student, whose mother hand crafts Meb’s Costume each year, and drives them down from Syracuse)

And everything is over by 4 p.m. so the little animals can get home for nap time before it’stime to trick or treat.
