AN ALSTOM COMPANY
The power industry is experiencing a fundamental change in the way it is managed and controlled. The integration of smart devices is allowing the operators to have increased visibility of the system and to quickly respond to disturbances. Manual, paper-driven business processes are being replaced by electronic computer-assisted decision making using a distribution system model for grid self-healing and conservation voltage reduction. Developing and validating the quality of the model is a time-consuming task for utilities, especially for initial Distribution Management Systems (DMS), Advanced Distribution Management Systems, Integrated Distribution Management Systems, and Outage Management Systems implementations.
Leveraging over 15 years of experience in deploying advanced DMS, Alstom has the expertise and tools to assist utilities looking to build, and validate their distribution models.
State-of-the art solution for comprehensive validation and correction of distribution feeder models for Distribution Management Systems. The comprehensive
validation and correction
of distribution feeder
models provides accurate
results with a quick
turnaround time.

CUSTOMER BENEFITS
1. Identify GIS model errors including: connectivity, equipment param-eters, and load models.
2. Review GIS model performance and accuracy using state-of-the-art grid analysis.
3. Generate schematics from GIS data to verify connectivity and situation-al awareness.
4. Recommend updates to GIS schema and models, and streamline export from GIS.
5. Available for all sizes and complexi-ties of distribution grids.
GIS SYSTEM AND SCHEMA INTERDEPENDENCE
Distribution system feeder model information is usually created and maintained in a Geographic Information System (GIS) database. The GIS data describes the electrical information, geographic coordinates, connectivity and physical characteristics of all assets in the feeder model.
Alstom has extensive experience in extracting and transforming data from any GIS systems into usable DMS/OMS models.
AVAILABLE SERVICES
Alstom offers a variety of modeling services to fit a utility’s needs, all providing Electric Distribution companies with a measure of “how ready” model data is and knowledge of how much investment is required to develop or correct usable models.
