Glass to Glass vs.

Lead Smelting

“…A main purpose of the CRT rule is to promote glass-to-glass recycling of CRT glass. This has been a clear and major intent from the beginning of this work some 7 years ago, starting with our Common Sense Initiative work, then followed by the needed rule. Glass-to-glass recycling is viewed by EPA as the best use of this material. It is certainly preferable over sending it to lead smelter (which can be environmentally sound, but not yielding as great benefits overall as glass-to-glass recycling).”
