Initiatives of the Philippine Governments and other Non-government Organizations in

Educational Technology

Is there really a gap between the traditional

teachers and digital learners?

Traditional Education

Digital Learners

Traditional Learner:-A student suited to learn within the boundaries of a physical classroom using a predefined curriculum.-Using face-to-face training

Traditional Teacher-Concerned with the teacher being the controller of the learning environment.- They regard students as having 'knowledge holes' that need to be filled with information.

Modern/Digital Learners:

• Can do multi-tasking.

• Students who are required to use these technologies in their courses are unlikely to reject them and low use does not imply that they are inappropriate for educational use.

• Students do not naturally make extensive use for study purposes of many of the most discussed new technologies such as Blogs, Wikis and 3D Virtual Worlds.

Is there a gap between Traditional Teacher and Modern Learner

• Before books, young

people were taught

through apprenticeships

with master workers or

scholars.

• With today’s digital world, the classroom is not as critical as it was in a book based learning system. Today, information stored digitally can be retrieved 24/7.
