How to Do Your Best with What you Got

GOOD THINKING

1. IF YOU DON’T HAVE GOD, WHAT YOU GOT IS NEVER ENOUGH

1 Corinthians 15:32b-34

If the dead are not raised, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die." Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character." Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God--I say this to your shame.

CHRISTIAN ATHEIST – CRAIG GROSCHEL

+ better possessions + peaceful circumstances + thrilling experiences + the right relationships + the perfect appearance

= happiness

The Darwinian theory has cut men loose from God and set him drifting free in a universe without means or ends.

EVOLUTION, A THEORY IN CRISIS – MICHAEL DENTON

THE SEARCH FOR THE LONGEVITY GENE – PLOS ONE (SCIENTIFIC JOURNAL)

• Universities of Luxembourg and Stanford

• Genome of Supercentenarians – people older than 110 years

• No gene responsible for longevity…

• One remarkable case – pathogenic mutation (should be fatal at a high percentage)

ROMANS 1:18-22

…since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. …Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools…

ISAIAH 55:1-3

"Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.

ISAIAH 55:6-7 (NIV)

Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

2. COME TO JESUS

John 4:13-14 Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

John 6:35Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

3. KEEP YOUR EYES ON ETERNITY

1 Corinthians 15:19

If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.

Matthew 6:19-21

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
