Dear Parents/Guardians,
The 2017-2018 Academic Calendar has been revised to recover instructional time and can be found on the district
webpage http://www.collierschools.com/Page/8387. Please note that we now have school on Oct. 16th & 17th, Quarter 1
will now end on Oct. 26th and there will be no school for students on Oct. 27th. As we look towards the end of the first
grading period, the incentive program revised at the end of last school year will continue to be in place. Students in K-5th
Grades are eligible for certificates following district established criteria:

K-2nd All O’s in ELA, Math, Science & Social Studies 3-5th All A’s in ELA, Math, Science & Social Studies
Academic Achievement: K-2nd All O’s & S’s in ELA, Math, Science & Social Studies 3-5th All A’s & B’s in ELA, Math, Science & Social Studies
Citizenship: K-5th All O’s & S’s in All Learner Qualities
The TBE Incentive Ticket Program for Third through Fifth Grade Students will remain the same as it did at the end of last
year. Below reviews the current established criteria:

SAC
We are looking for new parent representatives for SAC. A ballot will be coming home today and we request that you vote.
Whether a member or not, you are always welcome to attend a SAC meeting. Our next meeting will be on Oct. 19th at
5:00PM.
Math Fact Challenge
We continue to have a school wide focus on mastering our grade level math facts. Students will be recognized for meeting
their goal at the interim period and at the end of each quarter by earning a no uniform pass. Due to the changes in the
calendar, the first recognition will occur at the end of quarter 1 and not at interim. We ask that parents work with their child
towards accomplishing their goal:
Kinder: Write numbers 1-5 3rd: Subtraction 0-12
1st: Solve 10 single digit addition problems in 1 minute 4th: Multiplication 0-9
2nd: Fluently add Addition facts within 10 5th: Multiplication 0-12

Dear Custodial Parents,
We are pleased to announce that our Health Screening will take place on the following days:
Tuesday, October 10rd
*Vision Screening for Kindergarten, First grade, Third Grade, students new to the State of Florida, and MTSS Tier 3
students selected by the Intervention Support Specialist who are in the non-screened grade levels and need current
vision screening. *Dental Screening is for Third Grade only.
Thursday, October 12th
*Hearing Screening for Kindergarten, First grade, Third Grade, and MTSS Tier 3 students. *Growth and Development
(Height and Weight) Screening for First and Third Grades only.
Custodial parents and teachers of Second, Fourth, and Fifth grade students may refer students for vision and hearing concerns.

Tommie Barfield School Advisory Council Ballot for SY 2017-2018
The School Advisory Council (SAC) is looking for members! This organization exists to maintain a system of school
improvement and educational accountability as provided by statute and State Board of Education rule. We need
representatives from our various communities to assist in the continuation of school improvement and accountability to
the community. The SAC membership is determined through an election process. All meetings are open to the public.

How to Access iReady at Home on an iPad
1. Download or open the i-Ready Standards Mastery App.
Your iPad will need the 10.0 update or higher.
2. Press the iPad’s home button. This will leave the app open
in the background. Next we’ll log into Angel and it will
direct us back to the open iReady app.
3. Open Safari. Type https://angel.collierschools.com in the address bar.
Shortcut Tip: Tap the share button. Then Add to Home Screen. This will
eliminate the need to type the address in each time you go to iReady.
Instead, you will tap on the Angel Learning icon.
4. Student will log in with their lunch number and password.
5. Scroll down and select TBE Tech.
6. Select iReady from Mrs. McCarty’s Symbaloo page.
7. Tap Log In with Active Directory and use student’s school log in
information.
8. Tap iReady

Please remember that these lessons must be completed independently by the student. Any
academic assistance given may alter the program’s effects on improving independent reading
growth. Feel free to talk about your student’s “My Progress” in iReady to support them as they learn.
