Gijón has a wide range of flats for rent and this is one of the best and most traditional forms
of accommodation, especially for those that know the city. The average rent of an
apartment is around €540/month.
If you are a student looking for accommodation, in the Student Housing Information Centre
(CIVE), we can help you find a place that will meet your needs.
On the other hand, if you own a flat and you want to rent it, the Student Housing Information
Centre can also provide a helping hand.
This service is completely free of charge for students and owners. Likewise, for those people

Municipal programmes

The Municipal Housing service of the Gijón City
Council aims to facilitate access to housing for
the citizens of Gijón, and especially for young
people. Exceptionally, other citizens are also
considered.

Young-Share
Programme
The aim of this programme is to facilitate young people (between 18 and 35) access to
affordable housing by promoting flat-sharing among peers in suitable accommodation.
The rent is €129 per month, including gas, electricity and communal expenses.
Candidates may apply any time throughout the year.

CONVIVE plan:
Intergenerational programme
An alternative housing programme for young people (under 35) sharing a house with an
elderly person (over 65) in exchange for some help, conversation or some company, as
previously agreed.
The maximum rent charged will not exceed € 250 per month, of which the programme funds
50% with a limit of 100 €.
Candidates may apply any time throughout the year.

Rental
assistance
Through the municipal programme Rental Assistance Payment, some specific beneficiaries
get a percentage of their monthly rent paid. Additional assistance may also be provided to
account for part of the expenses involved in signing the contract, such as deposit, first
month’s rent, etc. The priority groups of this programme are young people between 18 and
35 years of age.
Rentals may not exceed €450/month. The maximum period of subsidy is six years.
Candidates may apply any time throughout the year.
